Professional Biography
My interest in urban forestry stems from the realization that ecological interactions associated with forest communities are increasingly driven by human influence. With an emphasis on invasive species, my research group evaluates how disturbance forces directly and indirectly impact arthropod abundance, herbivory and herbivore success, and community dynamics. I integrate field and laboratory approaches to address behavioral and ecological issues in forest ecosystems in the context of herbivore-plant relations, feeding guild interactions, and interactions among plant stressors; increasingly my work is occurring in urban settings.
