Narrative

We liked this tree because the leaves stay on all year long. This tree helps shade our outdoor classroom, which is right next to the tree. We discovered that this tree was planted in honor of a former North Middletown Elementary School teacher. She was known to have a "green thumb." Mrs. Ewalt loved teaching her students about the environment within our community. She involved her students in research projects that helped them learn more about the different plants around our school. She loved taking her students for nature walks around the school in order for them to explore and discover the environment that we needed to protect and enjoy. We hope that future students will enjoy the shade from this tree as they use the outdoor classroom and remember the love a former teacher had for preserving nature.
