Narrative

We chose this tree because it has been a bystander to some of the most important social moments of our college careers. It stands in sorority circle in the middle of UK’s bustling Greek community. Clear signs of removal of large branches, growth stretching from one Greek house to another, and enough volume to provide shade for an entire sorority made this particular tree stand out to us. The sheer size of the tree and huge circumference indicates to us that it must be relatively old. This tree most certainly represents a unique time of growth and social movement in the Greek community, as well as a certain resilient spirit of nature in the face of development and frequent human contact.
