Narrative

We picked this tree because the smoketree is truly an example of silent beauty; blending in with nearby vegetation saving its true brilliance for when it flowers. This beauty has not gone unacknowledged as the only other representative of the species on campus, located in the arboretum, was the first tree on UK's campus to be adopted. Located both near the hospital and the entrance to the greenhouses our tree is passed by people every day, some not even realizing it. This location also puts it at risk because of emissions from cars as well as the heating and cooling plant located on the hospital's campus. We hope that by adopting this tree we can ensure that future students, employees, hospital patients and simple passerby’s can enjoy its silent beauty.
