Narrative

The tree I picked was a Silver Maple or Acer saccharinum. It is a very large and sturdy tree that is 68 feet tall. The bark of the tree is a mash up of grey colors. It is peeling and if you tried, you could pull it right off the tree. The leaves are ridged and have 5 lobes. They are green on the front side and grayish-silver on the other side(hence the name silver maple). It is located in my side yard with two other trees near it. There are a few reasons why this tree is my favorite tree. The first and foremost reason is that when I was really young, my dad built us a huge tree house in it. My older brothers were about my age and they helped some too. I hang out up there a lot and it is the perfect tree for the tree house. Another reason is that the tree is great for shade and it leans right over my basketball court so when it is hot, I am shaded from the sun. The last reason is that when I was a kid, I used to be so amused by the wing-shaped seeds that swirled down from the tree. It also makes our yard look cool because when the wind blows its leaves show their silver backs.
